Hello again to all my crazy readers out there. Today I have an album review of a band that has really impressed me. I had a lot of fun listening to this one. So here is my review of “Not the Same” by Aranda. Enjoy!
Oklahoma based rock band Aranda is releasing their latest album, Not The Same on June 30th, 2015. I'm sure we can all think of musical brothers that rock out. This is the follow-up to 2012's “Stop the World”, which featured one of my favorite songs “Satisfied”. This band just keeps on cranking out hit after hit. It's no surprise that they are always near the top of the charts and one of many listeners favorites in the genre.
Not the Same is a musical feast for the ears. It didn't take me long to realize how diverse this album is. So many influences and moods are portrayed within the 11 songs. The song selection and placement was masterfully done. The opening track got me pumped up with it's up tempo beat and groovy feel good vibe.
The most impressive part of Not the Same would have to be the vocals. I've always considered Aranda to be one the most vocally talented singers in the business. These guys could literally sing anything and make it sound like gold. The mixing and mastering was meshed to perfection. I didn't feel overwhelmed by any instrument, as they all found their special place in the mix.
“Knock out the Lights” was an impressive track that features a mix of influences. Think of careless whisper, with the funky groove of another one bites the dust and some maroon 5 mixed in for good measure.
“Are You Listening”, is hands down my favorite track. I closed my eyes as I listened to acoustic guitar speaking to me. The harmonies in the voices gave me chills. A beautiful and bittersweet ballad performed to perfection. I would venture to say that many listeners will relate to this song and will leave them applauding.
Overall, Not The Same was one of my favorite albums to review. I've done quite a few but this release has so many layers and I feel as though the listener should be able to feel every emotion that Aranda is singing. This album should be a front-runner for album of the year for 2015. If you are a fan of rock and roll, this is a must have for your collection. Make sure to go out on June 30th and buy a copy, or go download a digital copy on iTunes, or other digital retailers. I give this album an insane 9.5 out of 10 Insane horns \m/.
